Introduced in 1961, the E-Type roadster proved to be an immediate success. Designed under the guidance of Sir William Lyons, the car was a longer and lower version of Jaguar’s D-Type. Manufactured between 1961 and 1975, its combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing established the marquee as an icon of 1960s motoring. On its release Enzo Ferrari called it “The most beautiful car ever made”.

1R27025 was completed at the Browns Lane Jaguar works on October 8, 1969 as a US market example, distributed through the British Leyland handler in New York. According to the previous and second caretaker, this E-Type is said to have remained with its original owner, an architect, from 1969 until 2013. Carefully stored in a heated garage by its long-term owner Mr. Robert Halander, clocking about 80,000 miles over the course of its lifetime before deciding in 2004 to commission a ground-up restoration entrusted to two well-known restoration establishments.
