Gallery Junction is pleased to offer this 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1 1/2 OTS

With its monocoque passenger compartment, tube-framed engine bay and tilting hood, the extraordinary E-Type was more than a road-going successor to its Le Mans-winning predecessor, the D-Type. Evolution of the series was swift. The 1968 Jaguar Series 1½ E-Type shared the desirable 4.2-liter engine and handsome body style with its predecessor, the Series I E-Type. This model, which fell between the Series I and Series II, features open headlights, twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, twin cooling fans and adjustable seats. The car also includes four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes with the rear discs fitted next to the differential to reduce un-sprung weight and, most importantly, fully independent suspension on all four wheels.

The example offered here just came out of long term storage and was somewhat of a barn find. Originally finished in Primrose and now seen in Carmen Red with Black Leather interior and a Black Vinyl Top.

It’s engine numbers match its data tag and therefore is believed to be number match. It is an excellent example to undergo a full and thorough restoration and makes for an excellent project.

It does run, and rather quite smoothly. However, due to the long term which it was stored, it will need to be gone through comprehensively to bring her back to her road worthy glory days.
