This is a 1955 Jaguar XK140 FHC (Fixed Head Coupe) that has been completely restored and that has 95,659 miles on the odometer; as can be seen in the photos, she has been driven sparingly since completion. The car is finished in a rich Carmen Red with a very nice and complementary Red leather interior; her spoked wheels are also painted Carmen Red making the whole exterior look elegant and beautiful. Overall, this is a lovely car that runs and drives exceptionally well.
This 1955 Jaguar XK140 FHC has the original drive train (numbers matching) 3.4 liter six cylinder engine – “C” Head Type .”Special Equipment” Model – coupled to the original 4 speed gearbox. This car is also equipped with wire wheels painted Carmen Red. This is a wonderful return to the 1950’s when British sports cars were the envy of the world. This specific example is in outstanding condition and could be driven everyday if desired and if in the right climate. The engine has plenty of power and has great oil pressure, the gear box is smooth and overall, it is just a joy to drive.
Additional notes which will be important to the new owner are that the original factory radio is not installed but is available and will come with the car, the under hood fuse boxes have been updated to accommodate easier access and maintenance – however, all the original parts are included – we have her Heritage Certificate and we have the original jack and grease gun but not the wheel mallet or tool kit.
Low, Curved and Exciting, the bodywork of the XK Series created a sensation when announced in 1948. The engine – a six cylinder – rivaled the big American V8’s of the time. Jaguar was center stage at the Winners Circle taking several Le Mans victories. More expensive ($4,500 cost) than their British rivals, MG, Triumph, Austin Healey and Lotus, the Jaguar sold very well due to style, performance and on-track prowess. You can be sure that when taken out for special occasions, this car will get more than her fair share of attention.
If you are a serious Jaguar collector or if this is the time for you to acquire your first classic Jaguar, then this is a car that you can not afford to let pass you by.
