CRUISIN CLASSICS IS PROUD TO PRESENT THIS INCREDIBLY RARE PIECE OF AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY! THIS 1950 JAGUAR XK120 IS NUMBER 67 OF ONLY 242 ALLOY-BODIED VERSIONS EVER PRODUCED (ONLY 184 WERE LEFT-HAND DRIVE). THE XK120 WAS LAUNCHED AT THE 1948 LONDON MOTOR SHOW TO DISPLAY JAGUAR’S NEW 3.4LTR XK ENGINE. THE CAR WAS SUCH A HIT THAT JAGUAR STARTED TO ROLL OUT PRODUCTION CARS IN 1949 TO VERY EAGER BUYERS. THE FIRST 242 CARS PRODUCED WERE ASH WOOD FRAMED WITH ALUMINUM BODY PANELS 112 LBS. LIGHTER THAN LATER VERSIONS MADE WITH PRESSED STEEL BODIES. THIS CAR WAS COMPLETED ON DECEMBER 29, 1949 AND TITLED AS A 1950 UPON DELIVERY TO A DEALER IN NEW YORK. THE XK120 DERIVES IT’S NAME FROM IT’S ABILITY TO ACHIEVE 120 MILES PER HOUR, THE FASTEST PRODUCTION CAR IN THE WORLD AT THAT TIME. THIS PARTICULAR CAR FEATURES A THROUGH-THE -RADIATOR ENGINE CRANK THAT ONLY APPEARED ON THE FIRST 68 CARS PRODUCED ADDING EVEN MORE RARITY. THOUGH THIS XK IS UNRESTORED, IT IS AN EXCELLENT CANDIDATE AS IT STILL HAS EVERYTHING THERE – EVEN THE WHEEL SPATS, CONVERTIBLE TOP, AND SIDE CURTAINS. THE ENGINE CAN STILL RUN, THOUGH THE CAR WOULD NEED SOME RESTORATION BEFORE BEING DRIVABLE AGAIN. AT SOME POINT IN IT’S LIFE IT WAS RESPRAYED BRITISH RACING GREEN (ORIGINALLY WAS SILVER WITH A GRAY TOP) AND NON-ORIGINAL STYLE SEATS WERE ADDED. THIS XK HAS BEEN IN A PRIVATE COLLECTION IN COLUMBUS, OHIO FOR THE LAST DECADE OF IT’S LIFE. THIS IS A VERY RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OBTAIN ONE OF THE FEW REMAINING XK ALLOY BODIES FOR YOUR OWN COLLECTION! LET’S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT SOME OF THE DETAILS.
